I’m saddened to hear that Bury Me Brewing is closing at the end of the month. I was really looking forward to checking in at the brewery during my next visit to Ft Myers. Sadly, that won’t be in the next 5 days…
I first experienced Bury Me while taking my daughter to university orientation over in Ft. Myers. While she spent a couple days learning about her new school, I took a tour around town looking for craft beer. Bury Me happen to be my first stop and I really enjoyed myself there.
Solomon, my bartender that fine summer day, had been with Bury Me since the brewery opened about 5 years prior. He enjoys playing heavy metal music during his shift, which I didn’t mind and felt was rather appropriate for the atmosphere. Metal not your thing? That’s fine, each bartender does their own thing and typically has their own following. Bury Me was both pet and family friendly.
In addition to serving from their taproom, Bury Me also offered a mobile party service where you could select up to 6 of your favorite Bury Me beers to be served from their hearse. You could also find their beers on tap in about 300 bars and restaurants in southwest Florida from Punta Gorda to Naples.
I tried their honey brown and the sour porter. The Hellbound honey brown was smooth and very drinkable. I’m not sure I’d ever heard or a sour porter before but Lady Lovibond filled the bill. Solomon warned me it was very sour but I have a deep love for sours and found the Lady just slightly sour. Personally, I would have enjoyed it more had it been more sour, and perhaps a little salty. Admittedly, salty probably would not have matched with the porter style.
